Tim Rose

Biography

Tim Rose is an American actor and puppeteer whose creature and puppet work spans film and television. Born in Pittsfield, Illinois, he graduated from SUNY Albany before finding work in movie effects. He played Admiral Ackbar in Return of the Jedi (1983) and later brought the character back for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In that first film he also operated Sy Snootles and Salacious B. Crumb, Jabba the Hutt's jester. Rose contributed to further Lucasfilm and Jim Henson Company productions, with credits on The Dark Crystal (1982) and Howard the Duck (1986), and helped operate Tik-Tok in Return to Oz (1985). For the BBC he built Cosmo and Dibs for the children's series You and Me, and in 1988 he sculpted and worked the head animatronics for Aslan in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
