Susan Hampshire
Biography
Susan Hampshire is an English actress who began in theater before moving into film and television. Born in Kensington, London, she took her first starring film role in During One Night, and later appeared in movies such as The Three Lives of Thomasina (1963), Night Must Fall (1964), Wonderful Life (1964), and The Trygon Factor (1966). On television she became known for The Forsyte Saga, The First Churchills, and Vanity Fair, winning three Emmy Awards for those roles. Other television credits include The Pallisers, The Grand, and Monarch of the Glen, where she played Molly MacDonald. She has also worked extensively on stage, taking leading roles in numerous plays, including The Bargain and The Circle at Chichester Festival Theatre.

Hampshire replaced Julie Christie in The Andromeda Breakthrough in 1962, taking over the part of Andromeda because Christie was not available, after Christie had played the role in the first season, A for Andromeda.
Beyond film
In 1961, Hampshire played the title part in a recorded dramatization of Little Black Sambo for the His Master's Voice Junior Record Club, with David Croft writing the words and Cyril Ornadel the music.
