Sue Lyon
Biography
Sue Lyon was an American actress who began as a child model in Dallas and made her screen debut in 1959 on television series including Dennis the Menace and The Loretta Young Show. At 14 she was chosen to play Dolores Haze in Stanley Kubrick's Lolita (1962), a performance that brought critical praise and a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer, along with Laurel and Photoplay nominations. She went on to appear in The Night of the Iguana (1964) with Richard Burton and Ava Gardner, 7 Women (1965), Tony Rome (1967) opposite Frank Sinatra, and The Flim-Flam Man (1967) with George C. Scott. After the 1960s her parts shifted to lower-budget films such as Four Rode Out (1969), Crash! (1976), End of the World (1977), The Astral Factor (1978), and Alligator (1980), after which she retired from acting.
