Leslie Parrish
Biography
Leslie Parrish was an American actress who appeared under her birth name, Marjorie Hellen, for six years before she adopted Leslie Parrish in 1959. She was born in Melrose, Massachusetts, and started out as a model in New York before Twentieth Century Fox signed her and she later joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1956. Her first leading part, as Daisy Mae in the film version of Li'l Abner (1959), brought her wide attention. She played Jocelyn Jordan, the fiancee of Laurence Harvey's character, in The Manchurian Candidate (1962). Other credits included For Love or Money (1963) with Kirk Douglas and Three on a Couch (1966) with Jerry Lewis. She also appeared in the low-budget The Giant Spider Invasion (1975), now regarded as a cult film, and served as associate producer on Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1973). On television she guest-starred on Star Trek in 1967.
