Stewart Copeland
Biography
Stewart Copeland is an American musician and composer who drummed for Curved Air before founding the Police in 1977 with Sting and guitarist Henry Padovani, soon replaced by Andy Summers. The Police became one of the era's top bands, and Copeland contributed early songs and co-arranged the group's material. As a composer, he wrote scores for films such as Wall Street, Men at Work, Good Burger, and We Are Your Friends, plus themes for The Equalizer, The Amanda Show, and Dead Like Me. He also scored the Spyro video games and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, and he voiced an additional American soldier in South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut (1999). His Rumble Fish score earned a Golden Globe nomination, Rolling Stone ranked him the 10th-best drummer of all time in 2016, and he entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Police in 2003.

About the name
Stewart Copeland recorded under the pseudonym Klark Kent, playing all the instruments and singing lead vocals himself. His single "Don't Care" reached No. 48 on the UK chart in August 1978, months before the Police first charted.
Getting ready for a role
Universal Interactive and Insomniac Games hired Copeland in 1998 to write the score for Spyro the Dragon, a PlayStation game. Before composing the soundtrack, he played each level to get a feel for it.
Behind the camera
RIM asked Copeland in 2008 to compose a soundtrack for its BlackBerry Bold smart phone. From a one minute percussive theme he developed six ringtones and a softer alarm tone that came preloaded on the device.
