Plot summary
Cream and Blind Faith make Ginger Baker one of rock's best-known drummers, and in 1972 he travels to Nigeria, where Fela Kuti's Afrobeat reshapes the way he plays. Musicians who worked with him and members of his family appear alongside Baker himself, tracing his drug problems and the fortunes he loses. A magazine writer stays with him in South Africa for a profile, and that time together, plus hours of interviews, becomes a documentary. The compound where Baker lives in his seventies has a sign outside warning callers about Mr. Baker, and his young wife and 39 polo ponies share the place with him.
