Seamon Glass
Biography
Seamon Glass was an American actor and author who worked in films and on television from the early 1960s into the early 1990s. Born in 1925, he got into acting after meeting Hollywood people while working as a boxing instructor and sparring partner; one client, producer and director Fred Gadette, helped him find acting roles and stunt work. He took the lead role in This Is Not a Test (1962), which concerns a lawman, and played Benton in the Star Trek episode Mudd's Women (1966). He played the menacing First Griner in John Boorman's Deliverance (1972) and later appeared in Bootleggers (1974), Winterhawk (1975) and The Other Side of Hell (1978). He also wrote the novel The Half Ass Marines, published in 2010. He died in 2016.

A role that slipped away
Glass's agent, former actor Hugh French, dropped him after a merchant voyage made him lose a role that John Wayne had requested, possibly in The Sons of Katie Elder.
A change of course
After the war, Glass went to Santa Monica Junior College on the G.I. Bill. There he became the college's heavyweight boxing champion, which led him into amateur and professional boxing.
A change of course
In 1960 in Los Angeles, Glass boxed professionally for a short time and had a record of 1-2. Actress Anna Maria Alberghetti sponsored him.
Behind the camera
Glass was a Santa Monica Harbor patrolman and chose the night shift, which gave him quiet hours to keep writing his books and a regular column for the Santa Monica Independent.
