Sandy Baron

Sandy Baron was an American actor and comedian who worked in theater, film, and television. Born in Brooklyn, he began his career in the Catskill Mountains resorts, performing Borscht Belt comedy, and later joined the Compass Players improv group. He first played Broadway in Tchin-Tchin in 1962, and appeared in other stage productions, including Lenny. He took over from Cliff Gorman as Lenny Bruce in the Broadway production. On television, he gained notice on That Was The Week That Was in 1964, co-starred in the sitcom Hey, Landlord, and became best known for his recurring part as Jack Klompus on Seinfeld. He also hosted talk shows and appeared on game shows. His films included Targets (1968), If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium (1969), The Out-of-Towners (1970), Birdy (1984), and Broadway Danny Rose (1984), in which he played himself and narrated. He wrote music and comedy albums and opened for Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, and Diana Ross.
