Biography

Ross Malinger is an American former actor who began performing as a child and became best known for playing Jonah Baldwin in Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and Bobby Jameson in Toothless (1997). Born in Redwood City, California, he started at six with a guest spot on Beverly Hills, 90210 and soon turned up in sitcoms including Who's the Boss?, Roseanne, and Seinfeld, where he played a Bar Mitzvah boy. His films took in Kindergarten Cop, Bye Bye Love (1995), Sudden Death (1995), and the lead in Little Bigfoot, and he voiced Spike in Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco (1996). For Disney's animated Recess he supplied the first voice of gang leader T.J. Detweiler, later reprising the part in Recess Christmas: Miracle on Third Street (2001) and Recess: All Growed Down (2003). His last film was Personally Yours (2000). Malinger has retired from acting and worked at car dealerships in the Los Angeles area.

A role that slipped away
Malinger quit voicing T.J. Detweiler on Disney's Recess after the second season episode "Outcast Ashley" because his voice had gotten too low, and Andrew Lawrence took over the part.
