Did you know?!
First role
Randy Travis first acted in 1988, appearing uncredited in Young Guns, the Emilio Estevez movie. His part was mostly cut, but he sang the title track for the soundtrack.
About the name
Traywick was first hired to wash dishes, then was asked to perform as well. He and Hatcher decided he should use the name Randy Ray, since that was simpler to say than Traywick.
A first
By August 1997, Travis had signed with DreamWorks Records's Nashville division, making him the first artist to join that label.
A first
Randy Travis's album Always & Forever topped the Billboard Top Country Albums charts for 43 weeks. That beat the 28-week longevity record Alabama's Mountain Music had set earlier in the decade.
A role that slipped away
In 1982, Travis wrote "I Told You So" by himself, near the time he tried to sign with Curb Records. Monk sent the song to Lee Greenwood then, but Greenwood turned it down.
