Plot summary
In Antioch, Washington, Travis Jordan, a former minister, has spent three years without faith since his wife was killed and no one was caught. Then cures begin around town. The young son of Morgan Elliot, the new veterinarian, emerges from a van wreck unhurt. Max, Travis's dog, comes back to life after a burial. A paralyzed man gets up and walks. A girl with scars and her father, a police officer who has a tumor in his brain, are also made well. At each of these events, people notice three figures dressed in black, or their tall leader, who lets it be known that he is coming. Brandon Nichols, a shabby and mild newcomer, arrives and, by preaching and healing, suggests he is Jesus Christ. The town takes him in.
