Peter Boretski
Biography
Peter Boretski, the professional name of Peter Perehinczuk, was a Canadian actor born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He began at the Manitoba Theatre Centre, then worked with the Stratford Festival and in 1956 played a small part on Broadway in Tamburlaine the Great. After working with Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre, where he took his mother's maiden name for the stage, he came back to Canada in the early 1960s. He acted and directed mostly in theater during the 1960s and early 1970s, directed television such as A Remnant of Harry, and helped create Theatre Passe Muraille's Bethune! in 1972. In later years he was known for Jack Soble in King of Kensington and appeared in films including The Nutcracker Prince (1990), Naked Lunch (1991), and Harrison Bergeron (1995). He starred in the 1985 play Einstein and received an ACTRA Award nomination in 1986 and three Gemini Award nominations.
