Paul Angelis
Biography
Paul Angelis was an English actor born in Liverpool in 1943. He worked in merchant banking for six years before studying at Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, then moved to London and toured with a children's theater company. He voiced the Chief Blue Meanie as well as Ringo Starr and George Harrison in Yellow Submarine (1968). On television he played PC Bruce Bannerman across 128 episodes of Z-Cars and Navy Rum in Porridge, and he appeared in many other British programs, among them The Sweeney, George and Mildred, Coronation Street, and Casualty. His film credits included The Alf Garnett Saga (1972), Sweeney! (1977), and For Your Eyes Only (1981). He also wrote for BBC radio, contributed a food program to TSW, and published a novel. Angelis died in 2009.
