Patricia Roc

Patricia Roc was an English film actress who became a leading presence in British wartime melodrama. Born in London, she trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and worked in London theater, where producer Sydney Carroll cast her in The Mask of Virtue. Her screen work began with a small part in The Divorce of Lady X (1938), after Alexander Korda noticed her on stage, and she soon took a lead in The Rebel Son. Gainsborough Studios top-billed her in Millions Like Us (1943) and gave her roles in Two Thousand Women (1944) and Love Story (1944). She became popular in Gainsborough melodramas, especially The Wicked Lady (1945) and Madonna of the Seven Moons (1945); the former was the most successful British release of 1946. Her one Hollywood film was the Western Canyon Passage (1946). Later credits included The Man on the Eiffel Tower (1949), The Perfect Woman (1949), and Circle of Danger (1951). She died in 2003.
