Patricia Ellis
Biography
Patricia Ellis was an American actress who made films from 1932 to 1939 and later sang. Born in Birmingham, Michigan, she had a screen test in New York and Warner Bros. signed her in 1932. That year she took two small, uncredited parts in Three on a Match (1932) and Central Park, and was among the WAMPAS Baby Stars. Her first credited part came in The King's Vacation in 1933, and she also played the love interest of James Cagney in Picture Snatcher (1933). She worked steadily over the next five years, appearing in more than 30 features, mostly comedies, and by 1936 was the female lead in nearly all her films. Fugitive at Large in 1939 was her last feature. She then moved into singing, performing in a 1941 soundie, on Broadway in Louisiana Purchase, and headlining at Atlantic City's Hamid's Pier with Henny Youngman and Blue Barron and his Orchestra.
