Nora Swinburne
Biography
Nora Swinburne was an English actress with many British films to her credit and a long stage career. Born in Bath, Somerset, she trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. As a child she acted in Where the Rainbow Ends in London and in cities across Britain, and later appeared in London theaters. Her stage work later took her to New York and included roles in plays such as Tilly of Bloomsbury, The Bat, and A Month in the Country. On television she played Aunt Hester Forsyte in The Forsyte Saga (1967) and Katharina Schratt in Fall of Eagles (1974). She also appeared in many British films. She died in 2000.

Swinburne was rejected by ballerina Anna Pavlova for the corps de ballet because she was considered too young, despite being seen as very talented, so she joined the Italia Conti school instead.
