A role that slipped away
Lang was not a producer of the Altamont Free Concert, but the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead asked him to help move the show at the last moment from Sears Point Raceway to the Altamont Speedway.
A change of course
Lang dropped out of New York University in 1967 and moved to Coconut Grove, Florida, where he opened a head shop.
Behind the camera
Lang ran Just Sunshine Records, a label that put out over 40 albums. Among the musical artists it released were Karen Dalton, Betty Davis and Mississippi Fred McDowell.
A change of course
Lang managed Joe Cocker for more than twenty years, starting shortly after the 1969 Woodstock festival, and appeared in Cocker's "You Can Leave Your Hat On" video as a flugelhorn player.
Behind the camera
Lang served as associate producer on the film Bottle Rocket, which was directed by Wes Anderson and released in 1996.
First role
In 1968 Lang and Marshall Brevetz produced the Pop & Underground Festival in the Miami area, which drew about 25,000 people on its first day and ended early when rain hit on the second.
