Big break
Carter's train was late, and when he arrived Marquand was in a meeting. The front desk forgot to tell Marquand he was there, so Carter waited an hour without being called in, and Marquand came upon him as he left for the day.
A role that slipped away
Carter declined the chance to play Bib Fortuna again in The Phantom Menace because he did not want to go through the heavy makeup process a second time.
First role
In Doctor Who, Carter's first television part was in The Mind of Evil from 1971, where he played both a UNIT soldier and a prisoner.
