Biography

Marceline Day was an American actress whose screen career ran from childhood appearances in the 1910s to her retirement in the 1930s. Born Marceline Newlin in Colorado Springs and raised in Salt Lake City, she followed her older sister, the actress Alice Day, into pictures, making her screen debut with her in Mack Sennett's 1924 comedy Picking Peaches. She went on to comedy shorts with Harry Langdon and early Westerns with cowboy stars such as Hoot Gibson and Art Acord, then moved into dramatic roles opposite John Barrymore, Lon Chaney and Buster Keaton. Named one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars in 1926, she appeared in The Beloved Rogue (1927) and was probably best remembered for The Cameraman (1928), as Sally Richards, and the lost London After Midnight. She moved into sound films, worked increasingly in lower-budget Westerns, and retired after The Fighting Parson.
