Biography

Lydia Leonard is a British actress who studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Born in Paris in 1981, she appeared on stage in 2005 as Polyxena in the Royal Shakespeare Company's Hecuba and as Caroline Cushing in the original productions of Frost/Nixon. She later played Anne Boleyn in the RSC's Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, a role she reprised on Broadway and which earned her a Tony Award nomination. Her screen work includes the television series Quacks, Ten Percent, and The Crown, as well as films such as The 39 Steps (2008), Archipelago (2011), and Legendary: Tomb of the Dragon (2013). She also appeared in Gentleman Jack and in 2024 played Jane Rochford in Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light.
