Lola Albright

Lola Albright was an American actress and singer who began in radio in Akron, Ohio, and modeled before a talent scout helped bring her to Hollywood. She made her film debut with a small singing part in The Unfinished Dance and appeared in The Pirate (1948) and Easter Parade (1948). Her portrayal in Champion (1949) drew studio and public notice, and she spent years in supporting roles in more than 20 films, including The Silver Whip (1953) and The Tender Trap (1955). A Cold Wind in August (1961) brought praise from critic Pauline Kael and led to Kid Galahad (1962) and Joy House (1964). She won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 1966 Berlin International Film Festival for Lord Love a Duck (1966) and appeared in The Way West (1967). On television, she played Edie Hart on Peter Gunn and was nominated for an Emmy in 1959. She recorded albums and retired in 1984.
