Lennie Weinrib
Biography
Lennie Weinrib was an American actor, comedian, and writer, born in the Bronx in 1935 and died in 2006. He began in show business with Spike Jones and The Billy Barnes Revue, then made guest appearances on series such as The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Munsters, Happy Days, and Adam-12. He charted nationally in 1962 with the comedy single Prez Conference. Weinrib became most notable for voice acting, starting with The Flintstones and going on to animated shows including Inch High, Private Eye, Hong Kong Phooey, and Voltron, where he voiced Hunk and Prince Lotor. He was the original voice of Scrappy-Doo and played the title role in H.R. Pufnstuf from 1969 to 1971, also writing every episode. For Disney, he voiced characters in the animated sequence of Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). He directed three beach party films and co-wrote The Elephant Book.

Behind the camera
Lennie Weinrib provided the voice for the title character on H.R. Pufnstuf during the show's whole run, from 1969 through 1971, and he wrote every episode of the series as well.
Beyond film
Weinrib voiced Superman in 1970 for a Sesame Street sketch about words beginning with S, the character's favorite letter, and later voiced Superman and Clark Kent on The Brady Kids.
Behind the camera
Weinrib directed three beach party features: Beach Ball for Paramount in 1965, plus Wild Wild Winter and Out of Sight, which he made for Universal in 1966.
