Laurette Luez
Biography
Laurette Luez was an American supporting actress and commercial model whose film and television career spanned about 20 years. Born in Honolulu to vaudeville performers who sang and danced, she first took the stage at age three doing a hula dance, and the family settled in Los Angeles in 1935. She moved into modeling and was cast mostly in exotic, sexy character parts. Her best known role was Marla Rakubian, a photographic model, in the film noir D.O.A. (1949). She played a dancing slave girl in Siren of Bagdad in 1953 and had a small part in the Bowery Boys film Jungle Gents in 1954. In 1956 she played Karamaneh in the television series The Adventures of Dr. Fu Manchu, and she was a regular on The Donald O'Connor Show from 1954 to 1955. She left the industry in 1965 and died in 1999.
