Kevin Phillips
Biography
Kevin Phillips is an American actor who grew up between Moncks Corner, South Carolina and Brooklyn and was born in Staten Island. He left a basketball scholarship at SUNY-Cobleskill in 2000 to act, starting out in an off-Broadway production, A Little Piece of Life. His first film credit came in The Cookout (2004), and he went on to appear in American Gun (2005) and Pride (2007), the leading role he is best known for. He played Mark Pitts in Notorious and took a lead in the indie action film Sinners and Saints (2010). He also starred in Red Tails (2012), the George Lucas-produced film about the Tuskegee Airmen, appeared in Blood and Bone (2009), played Marley Marl in Roxanne Roxanne (2017), and worked in television on Shameless, Unsolved and All American.
