Ken Hutchison

Ken Hutchison was a Scottish actor who worked in television and film. Born in Leslie, he appeared in many episodes of Play for Today between 1970 and 1980, including Just a Boys' Game. In 1971 he played Norman Scutt in Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs (1971), and the following year he co-starred with Robert Mitchum in The Wrath of God (1972), a performance singled out by The New York Times. He appeared in the police drama The Sweeney and its big screen spin off Sweeney 2 (1978), and in 1980 he had a role in Minder. Other credits included the miniseries Masada, a minor part in Gandhi (1982), and the villain's henchman in Ladyhawke (1985). On television he was Mac Murphy in Murphy's Mob from 1982 to 1985 and appeared in multiple roles in The Bill from 1990 to 1999. Other films included Blonde Fist (1991) and As an Eilean (1993). Hutchison died in 2021.
