Plot summary
Paulina Escobar is a political activist in a South American country where a dictatorship has just fallen, and her husband Gerardo is a prominent lawyer there. One night a storm cuts the power at their house, and Gerardo comes home with a neighbor, Dr. Miranda, who had given him a ride. Paulina, who was tortured and raped for weeks under the old regime and never saw her captor's face, is certain that Miranda is the man. She seizes him and holds him captive to get at the truth, while Miranda insists he is innocent and Gerardo is caught between his wife and the law.
