Julia Murney

Singer and actress Julia Murney is known for her work on the American stage and for voice work in television commercials. Born in State College, she trained as a voice major at the High School of Music and Art and graduated from Syracuse University in 1990. She spent years as the Broadway actress who had never actually appeared on Broadway, since her following came from charity concert performances, and she did not debut there until 2005, in Lennon. Off-Broadway she first played Queenie in Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party (2000), a performance that earned her a Drama Desk Award nomination, and she later played Elphaba in Wicked on the national tour in 2006 and on Broadway in 2007, winning an Acclaim Award given by the Cincinnati Enquirer. A second Drama Desk nomination followed in 2013 for Falling. She also released the solo album I'm Not Waiting in 2006, and her television work includes NYPD Blue and Law and Order.
