Joseph Granby

Joseph Granby was an American film actor whose career stretched from 1915 into the 1960s. He was born in Boston and started making movies in 1915, mostly short subjects, working for Universal, its predecessor Independent Motion Picture Company, Rex and Victor, and he also appeared at Fox Studios in support of Valeska Suratt and her vamp-style pictures. His last silent film came in 1921, and through the rest of the 1920s and the 1930s he acted on Broadway, where he had begun in 1911. He went back to motion pictures in 1943, usually in uncredited parts, and in his final years he took television roles, on series including The Cisco Kid, Fireside Theatre and Lux Video Theatre, and made more films. He was perhaps best remembered for lending his voice to the Angel Joseph in the holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life. Granby died on September 22, 1965.
