John Mylong
Biography
John Mylong was an Austrian actor who worked first in European silent pictures and later became a Hollywood character actor. Born in Velyki Mosty, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he trained at Max Reinhardt's acting seminar in Vienna and began performing on stage and screen in 1921. Under the name Jack Mylong-Münz, he took roles in numerous German and Austrian silent films, wrote screenplays, and for a stretch played leads in period productions. In 1934 he moved to the United States. Using the name John Mylong, he went on to appear in around 171 film and television parts between that year and 1967, mostly in minor and supporting roles. He briefly returned to Germany in 1951 to act in the Curt Goetz comedy The House in Montevideo. He died in 1975.
