John Holland

Biography

John Holland, a singer and actor from the United States, first appeared in Hollywood films in 1937 after studying voice with Sidney Dietch, who trained him as a baritone. He was born in Fremont, Nebraska, and used his grandfather's name as his stage name. Television kept him busy in later years, with parts on Perry Mason, Wagon Train and Hawaiian Eye, and among his film credits were My Fair Lady (1964), How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1967) and Chinatown (1974). He also sang and acted on stage, in the Broadway production of Peter Pan (1954) and on tour with The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial. Critics gave him favorable notices for a Los Angeles concert, The California Night of Music, in 1937. He died in 1993.
