Biography

Jeanne Carmen was an American actress, model, and trick-shot golfer who earned the nickname Queen of the B-Movies through her work in cheaply made pictures of the 1950s and 1960s. Born in Paragould, Arkansas, she left home young and reached New York City at 16, where she won a dancing part in the Broadway show Burlesque opposite Bert Lahr. Modeling for men's magazines followed, as did a spell as a touring trick-shot golfer with Jack Redmond, giving exhibitions that included one for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Encouraged toward Hollywood, she settled into femme fatale and spirited parts, appearing in The Three Outlaws (1956), Untamed Youth (1957), and The Monster of Piedras Blancas (1959), plus the Three Stooges short A Merry Mix Up. She returned to the screen for The Naked Monster (2005) and died in 2007.
