Harlan Warde
Biography
Harlan Warde was an American character actor who worked in television and film for about forty years, appearing in more than 180 movies and series. He was usually cast in support as detectives, doctors and ministers, and he turned up often in westerns. Between 1958 and 1966 he made five guest appearances on Perry Mason, mostly as law enforcement figures. From 1958 to 1962 he played the bank president John Hamilton in eighteen episodes of The Rifleman, and in 1961 he was cast as Edwin Stanton on Death Valley Days. He was a regular presence on The Virginian from 1962 to 1971 as Sheriff Brannon, and he also appeared on The Big Valley and The Andy Griffith Show. His final role came in a 1979 episode of The Rockford Files.
