George Anderson was an American actor who worked on stage and in films for 34 years, with credits in 74 movies and 25 Broadway shows. A native New Yorker born in 1886, he first appeared on Broadway in 1907, starring in the musical The Time, the Place and the Girl. Over the following decade he acted in New York musicals and plays, among them Victor Herbert's The Duchess, and he also made six early movies from 1915 to 1918. Between 1922 and 1924, and again from 1927 to 1936, he returned to Broadway, directing one production, The Strawberry Blonde. He acted on Broadway once more in 1944 in Catherine Was Great, and his last movie was The Argyle Secrets in 1948. He died that same year.
