Gareth David-Lloyd

The Welsh actor, writer and singer Gareth David-Lloyd was born in Bettws, Newport, and took his first acting role as a robot in a school play. As a teenager he performed with youth theaters in Abergavenny and Newport, appearing in Macbeth, Henry V and The Threepenny Opera, and he later trained at the National Youth Theatre and The Rep College. His breakthrough came in 2006, when he began playing Ianto Jones in the science fiction series Torchwood, a part he later reprised in audio dramas and Big Finish audio plays, some of which he wrote himself. His screen credits include the Syfy movie Red Faction: Origins (2011), a direct-to-DVD Sherlock Holmes in which he played Dr. John Watson, and episodes of The Bill and Holby City. He also sings with Blue Gillespie, a progressive metal band, and he voices Solas for the Dragon Age video games.
