Flavio Insinna

Flavio Insinna is an actor who was born in Rome and trained at Gigi Proietti's Laboratorio, the school run by the performer who first drew him to the theater. After seeing Proietti onstage in Rome at fifteen, he entered that school and learned to build a character from the inside rather than copy his teacher. His early work included the television series Uno di Noi, and he went on to move between theater, television, and cinema. He appeared in Figli di Annibale in 1997, and after that breakthrough he took on Captain Flavio Anceschi in Don Matteo, produced by Lux Vide; that series reached its fourth season. For the same company he played Don Basilio in Maria Goretti, a film about Saint Maria Goretti. He also toured with the stage show La Banda, which he co-produced.
