Ettore Manni

Biography

Ettore Manni was an Italian actor who made more than 100 films between 1952 and his death in 1979, a regular in Neapolitan romances, costume pictures, peplum adventures and spaghetti westerns. Born in Rome, he came to the screen in 1952 and soon won leads and strong supporting parts in Carlo Ponti and Dino De Laurentiis productions, playing Marc Antony opposite Sophia Loren in Two Nights with Cleopatra (1954) and the brother of Anthony Quinn's title character in Attila (1954). He worked with Eleonora Rossi Drago again in Le Amiche (1955), took supporting roles in sword-and-sandal films such as Hercules and the Masked Rider (1963), and played Jason in the French Angelique series, among them Untamable Angelique (1967) and Angelique and the Sultan (1968). Fellini's City of Women (1980) was released after his death.
