Estelle Reiner
Biography
Estelle Reiner was an American actress and cabaret singer who was born in the Bronx and worked as a visual artist and stage set designer for hotel shows in the Catskills. In her 60s she took up cabaret singing and performed for many years. She studied theater with Lee Strasberg and Viola Spolin. She appeared in film comedies such as Fatso (1980) as Mrs. Goodman, To Be or Not to Be (1983) as Gruba, and The Man with Two Brains (1983) as a tourist in an elevator. Her most enduring film role came in When Harry Met Sally... (1989), in which director Rob Reiner cast her as a customer in the Katz's Delicatessen scene with Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. After Ryan's character faked an orgasm, Reiner deadpanned that she would have what the other woman was having. The American Film Institute ranked the line 33rd on its list of top 100 movie quotations.
