Biography
Born in Killara, New South Wales, on March 29, 1964, Elle Macpherson has built a career as a model, businesswoman, television host, and actress. She began modeling in 1982 with a television commercial, and set a record with five covers for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Time gave her the nickname The Body in 1989. She founded the lingerie line Elle Macpherson Intimates and the skin care brand The Body, and from 2010 to 2013 she hosted and executive produced Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model. She hosted the first season of NBC's Fashion Star. Her breakout screen role was as an artist's model in Sirens (1994). She took supporting parts in The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996) and Batman & Robin (1997), and leading roles in The Edge (1997) and South Kensington (2001). She appeared in Jane Eyre (1996) and If Lucy Fell (1996), played a recurring character on Friends, and she hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live.
