Edmund Breon
Biography
Edmund Breon was a Scottish stage and film actor who appeared in over 130 films from 1907 to 1952. Born in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, he got his start with John Hare's touring company before performing in Glasgow and in London's West End, where his reputation grew. He was reasonably identified as Edmond Bréon in numerous Gaumont silent films between 1907 and 1922, most notably as Inspector Juve in Louis Feuillade's Fantômas serials, and he had a minor role in Feuillade's Les vampires. After returning to Britain for A Little Bit of Fluff (1928), he went to Canada in 1929 and then emigrated to the United States, where The Dawn Patrol (1930) gave him his first major American part. He acted in British and American films for another twenty years and in 1938 took a West End stage role in Spring Meeting. He also played Dr. Ambrose in The Thing from Another World (1951). Breon died in 1953.
