Biography

Eddy Ko is a Hong Kong actor whose career began with Shaw Brothers in 1967. He built his reputation in a string of 1970s epics, and in 1986 he became widely known as Lam Chung, an iconic Chinese literary hero, in the TVB prime-time series The Unyielding Master Lim. After moving to Vancouver, he signed with a Canadian agent and shifted to international productions. In 1998 he played an illegal immigrant in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), which also stars Jet Li. Alongside continuing Hong Kong film work, his later projects included art-house titles such as Night Corridor, mainstream movies and soap operas. He earned a large mainland following for his 1995 ATV portrayal of folk hero Huo Yuanjia, and he also starred in an Italian film, portrayed a fictional Chinese head of state for Canadian television, and played a tattooist in the French thriller Largo Winch. His early fluency in English and Japanese helped him land international roles.
