Don Keefer
Biography
Don Keefer was an American actor whose stage, film, and television work covered more than 50 years and ranged from comedy to heavy drama. Born in Highspire, Pennsylvania, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduating in 1939, and that year performed Shakespeare excerpts at the New York World's Fair. He acted on Broadway in Junior Miss and Othello and joined The Actors Studio while it was still new. His part in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman on Broadway led to his first screen role, playing Bernard again in the 1951 film. Television gave him his steadiest work, including ten episodes apiece of Gunsmoke and Angel and appearances on The Twilight Zone and Star Trek. Among his films were The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming (1966), Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), Sleeper (1973), and The Way We Were (1973). He died in 2014. His last part was in Liar Liar (1997).

Early training
In the 1940s Keefer played supporting parts in Broadway shows including Junior Miss and Othello. He was also an early member of The Actors Studio and began method acting studies in Manhattan.
