Dawn Addams

Dawn Addams was an English actress who made a string of Hollywood films in the 1950s and later worked steadily in British television. Born in Suffolk, she caught the eye of talent agents and in December 1950 agreed a seven-year deal with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Her first film was Night into Morning (1951), after which came Plymouth Adventure (1952), Singin' in the Rain (1952) and Young Bess (1953), plus a leading role alongside Peter Lawford in The Hour of 13 (1952). In The Moon Is Blue (1953) she was cast as David Niven's daughter. She was Chaplin's leading lady in A King in New York (1957), the last comedy he starred in. Much of her work in the 1960s and 1970s was in British television, including several episodes of The Saint and a regular part in the sitcom Father, Dear Father, and her final films included the horror pair The Vampire Lovers (1970) and The Vault of Horror (1973).
