A revolution in Estrovia forces King Igor Shahdov from his throne. He reaches New York City with almost no money, since his prime minister has stolen his securities. The king wants the Atomic Energy Commission to hear his plan for atomic power as a path to utopia. At a televised dinner party he mentions stage experience, and work in television commercials follows. He dislikes the offer at first, then takes the jobs for pay. A progressive school invites him to speak, and there he encounters Rupert Macabee, a young pupil who edits the school paper and questions all government.
