Cliff Osmond
Biography
Cliff Osmond was an American actor, writer and acting instructor who was born in Jersey City in 1937 and raised in Union City. He earned an English degree from Dartmouth College and studied business administration at UCLA. Four of his films were directed by Billy Wilder: Irma la Douce (1963), Kiss Me, Stupid (1964), The Fortune Cookie (1966) and The Front Page (1974). He appeared in more than one hundred films and television shows, with guest roles on Gunsmoke, The Rifleman and The Twilight Zone, and he played Pap in a 1981 television adaptation of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. His writing for Streets of San Francisco earned a Writer's Guild Award nomination, and he wrote and directed The Penitent. He also won acting awards for stage work, taught acting in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and was a visiting professor at Georgetown University in 2004. He died in 2012.
