Biography

Casper Christensen is a Danish comedian, television host, writer and actor. Born in Birkerød, Denmark in 1968, he began in stand-up comedy after buying a tape by the American comedian Steve Martin in 1987, and that work led to a deal with the Danish broadcaster DR. His early television included the children's show Hvaffor en hånd (1991) and the quiz program Husk lige tandbørsten (1994), which he hosted and which made him a popular figure in Danish television. He followed it with Safari (1996), hosted the Danish Grammys, and then made Tæskeholdet (1997) and Darios Joint (1998). A new start at DR2, a smaller station, gave him the freedom to do what he wanted, resulting in Casper & Mandrilaftalen (1999), a cult success. In 2001 he wrote and starred in Langt fra Las Vegas, described as the first real Danish sitcom.
