Bruce Reitherman
Biography
Bruce Reitherman is an American cameraman, filmmaker and naturalist who started out as a child actor, voicing Christopher Robin in Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree (1966) and Mowgli in The Jungle Book (1967). Born in Burbank, California, he was the son of Wolfgang Reitherman, a Disney animator and one of the studio's Nine Old Men. He studied natural resources at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1977, and then worked as a river guide, field biologist, naturalist and expedition leader. He took up freelance camera work in 1983 and later produced documentaries that aired on PBS, the BBC, the Discovery Channel, National Geographic Television and Canal Plus, serving in the 1990s as cameraman, producer, writer and director on programs such as In the Wild and Nature, as well as Big Bear Week. In 2022 he joined a talk at The Walt Disney Family Museum marking its exhibition on The Jungle Book.
