Big break
Bill Lawrence hired Goldstein to write for the 2020 Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso. His writing led to him being cast as aging footballer Roy Kent, after he sent the production team a self-taped audition of five scenes, including the pilot's 'punching d*cks' scene.
First role
Goldstein started out in short films, then got his first feature film part in Wish You Were Here, a thriller he wrote himself, released in 2005. That movie was later remade as Slave in 2009.
Big break
After filming SuperBob, Catherine Tate asked Goldstein to help write and appear in her BBC One sitcom Catherine Tate's Nan. They later worked together on her first live tour and The Nan Movie.
Behind the camera
With Will Bridges, a writer on Black Mirror, Goldstein wrote and created Soulmates, a six-part science fiction anthology series for AMC, drawing on their short film For Life.
