Belita Moreno
Biography
Belita Moreno is an American actress who built a long career in sitcoms, film and theater after studying theater at Southern Methodist University and the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts. Born in Dallas, she moved to Hollywood and soon met director Robert Altman, who cast her in three of his films, among them 3 Women (1977). Her other film credits include Men Don't Leave (1990) and Clear and Present Danger (1994). She was a regular on Perfect Strangers, the ABC sitcom, from 1986 to 1992, and later played Benny Lopez, the mother of the lead, on George Lopez from 2002 to 2007. On stage she appeared in premieres of plays by Beth Henley, her former classmate, including The Miss Firecracker Contest and, on Broadway, The Wake of Jamey Foster. She has also worked as an acting coach on films.
