Biography

Annabel Leventon is an English actress whose work spans theater, television, and film. Born in Hertfordshire in 1942, she acted at the Oxford Playhouse while studying English at Oxford and toured France as Desdemona in an Oxford University Dramatic Society production of Othello. After a grant to LAMDA, she began her professional stage work in Leicester. In 1967 she went to the United States and spent seven months with Tom O'Horgan's La MaMa group before returning to Britain, where she joined the original London company of Hair in 1968 and later directed and appeared in its Paris staging. She also performed in the first London run of The Rocky Horror Show. Her television debut came in The White Rabbit, and her film work includes The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Defence of the Realm, M. Butterfly, Wimbledon, and A Royal Night Out. In 2023 she earned an Offie nomination for The Journey to Venice.
