Anna Kashfi
Biography
Anna Kashfi was an Anglo-Indian actress who worked in Hollywood for a short stretch in the 1950s. Born Joan O'Callaghan in Kolkata, India, she grew up there and moved to Cardiff, Wales, as a teenager, where she waited tables and worked in a butcher's shop before going to London to become a model. Billed as Anna Kashfi, she made her screen debut in The Mountain (1956), a Paramount picture with Spencer Tracy and Robert Wagner. The following year she appeared with Rock Hudson in Battle Hymn (1957), then played a Mexican opposite Glenn Ford and Jack Lemmon in Cowboy (1958). Her last film of that period, Night of the Quarter Moon (1959), brought her a Best Supporting Actress Award at the 1961 Cartagena Film Festival. She also appeared on television series such as Adventures in Paradise.
